ICO and NCSC cyber security webinar

The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) and National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) will be holding a joint webinar to provide tips on how small businesses can protect against cyber-attacks and get data protection right.

The webinar follows a warning from the ICO that companies are leaving themselves open to cyber attack by ignoring crucial measures like updating software and training staff, with a £4.4m fine issued to a company for failing to keep personal information of its staff secure.
John Edwards, UK Information Commissioner, said:
“The biggest cyber risk businesses face is not from hackers outside of their company, but from complacency within their company. If your business doesn’t regularly monitor for suspicious activity in its systems and fails to act on warnings, or doesn’t update software and fails to provide training to staff, you can expect a similar fine from my office.”
