The British Dental Industry Association (BDIA) and the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (BACD) have announced a new partnership focused on raising awareness of the growing risks associated with counterfeit and non-compliant dental devices across the profession.
As cosmetic dentistry continues to evolve and patient expectations rise, ensuring the use of compliant, traceable, and properly sourced dental devices has never been more important. Through this collaboration, the BDIA and BACD will work together to support principal dentists and practice owners in identifying potential risks, improving purchasing awareness, and protecting patient safety.
The partnership will focus on providing practical guidance, education, and resources to help dental professionals better understand the dangers associated with counterfeit products, including compromised quality, lack of regulatory compliance, and the risks these devices can pose to both patients and clinicians.
Alongside supporting clinicians and practice owners, the partnership will also help strengthen knowledge across the wider dental team. BACD members will have access to a range of BDIA educational resources, including the BDIA Introduction to Dentistry course, designed to help non-clinical staff build their understanding of the dental sector, gain confidence in their roles, and play a more informed part in supporting safe and effective patient care.
By improving awareness throughout the entire practice team, the BDIA and BACD aim to reinforce the importance of purchasing from trusted and reputable suppliers and encourage greater vigilance when sourcing products and devices.
