Department of Health & Social Care supplier update on end of Brexit Transition Period
Steve Oldfield, Chief Commercial Officer at the Department of Health & Social Care, has issued a letter to suppliers of medical devices and clinical consumables in order to outline the Department’s plans and preparations for the end of the Brexit Transition period.
The letter notes that DHSC is planning “for all scenarios”, including reduced traffic flow at the short straits in a “reasonable worst-case scenario”. As such, the letter sets out the actions it has or will be taking, and the actions it recommends for suppliers, including in areas such as:
1. Re-routing away from the short straits
2. Supporting ‘trader readiness’ for the new customs and border arrangements
3. Buffering stocks of medical supplies where possible
4. Warehousing
5. Regulatory flexibility
6. Shortage management response
In addition, DHSC will be hosting a webinar from 10am-11am on Tuesday 11 August to talk through the Department’s preparations and answer questions. You can register via the link below.
