Nominations are open for the BDIA Council elections taking place at the Association’s 101st Annual General Meeting on Thursday 19th September at 4.45pm in the Royal Liver Building, Pier Head, Liverpool.
The AGM will, as normal, host your BDIA Council elections, and nominations are now welcome from any Full Member company representative for the three vacancies on the Council. This year we are particularly looking for representatives from the publishing and services sectors. Why not put your name forward to serve and help shape the future of the industry.
The role of the Council
The Council meets, generally in person, at Mineral Lane around 5 times a year. Its role is to oversee the BDIA’s policy and objectives in line with the Association’s overall mission to advance the dental industry through ADVOCACY, COMMUNICATION, EDUCATION &
SUPPORT.
The key points for prospective nominees to be aware of are the Council’s responsibility to:
- Promote the objectives of the BDIA.
- Ensure the Association remains financially secure and in existence.
- Define and promote the BDIA’s brand and image.
- Act to assist members in meeting requirements affecting the control of dental products.
- Act to see that the BDIA influences organisations on important issues affecting the dental industry.
- Set up Committees or working groups if needed and appoint a Council representative to act as an advisor on each if required.
- Provide a social forum for members, thus encouraging participation and maximising attendance at all Association’s events and Committees.
- Investigate breaches of the Articles of Association or Code of Practice and to promote the industry’s freedom to self-regulate.
- Agree the overall budget for the Association.
Nominations must be returned to the BDIA’s Chief Executive by 5.00pm on 21st August 2024. The application form must be completed by the nominee and be signed (e-signature or type name) by a proposer and seconder who are Full Members of the Association.
