Consultation on GDC’s strategic plans

05 July 2022

The General Dental Council has launched a consultation on its strategic plans for the next three years.

The GDC is seeking input across its four strategic aims:

1. Dental professionals reach and maintain high standards of safe and effective dental care

2. Concerns are addressed effectively and proportionately to protect the public

3. Risks affecting the public’s safety and wellbeing are dealt with by the right organisations

4. Dental professional regulation is efficient and effective and adapts to the changing external environment.

Alongside this, the GDC has developed draft plans for the expenditure necessary to deliver its strategic plan accounting for possible significant inflationary pressures and the consultation also seeks views on its expenditure plans in line with its fees policy. Whilst a forecast for the Annual Retention Fee is included, at around £730 for dentists and around £120 for DCPs, the GDC notes that the consultation is not being used to collect views on the fees themselves, however.

The consultation will close on 6th September 2022.
