From 1 July 2021, new rules for right to work checks will apply. EU, EEA, or Swiss citizens will need to provide evidence of lawful immigration status in the UK.

The Government has published guidance for employers on how these checks will operate. Employers will not be required to retrospectively check the status on any EU, EEA, or Swiss citizens they employed before 1 July 2021.
